How to choose the paper for magazine printing?

In the industry of printing, most of the magazine printing companies would face the same problem, that is most of customers who wants to print the customized magazines did not know how to choose the paper for their magazines very clearly. As a professional magazine printing company in these magazine printing companies, we always offer the professional suggestions for our customers to choose the best paper they want, and it is our responsibility too.

As a professional magazine printing company, we found that usually customers will choose hardcover or softcover these two versions. The difference between these two versions is the cover. The paper we use for the cover of hardcover magazines is 157gsm glossy art paper mounted one greyboard, the thickness of the greyboard will be depend on the size and pages count of the magazines. So the greyboard would be make the cover hard and strong. Maybe some of magazine printing companies would recommend the thinner paper mounted a greyboard, but as a magazine printing company which has the rich experience in the magazine printing, we suggest the paper of the cover better to not thinner than 157gsm and not thicker than 250gsm.

For the cover of the softcover magazines, we usually use the 250gsm, 300gsm or 350gsm glossy art paper or matte coated paper for the cover, it will depend on the customer requirements. Some customer will required to use the one side glossy art paper for the softcover, then we will use the 300gsm or 350gsm or 400gsm one side glossy art paper for the cover.

For the inside pages of the magazine printing, most of customers will required to use the coated paper, it means glossy art paper or matte coated paper. So we will according to different customer’s requirements to suggest the best paper weight of the coated paper. The usual paper weight we use for the inside pages is 80gsm, 105gsm, 128gsm and 157gsm. 128gsm coated paper will be more popular than others, but it is depend on customer’ requirements.
