How Hardcover Books with Sprayed Edges Are Made?

Book Printing: The process begins with the printing of the book's interior pages, which are typically done on large sheets of paper. The pages are printed, bound, and trimmed to the desired book size. Hardcover books are constructed with a rigid cardboard cover, also known as a case.

Trimming: After the book block (the pages) is bound, it is trimmed to ensure that all the edges are uniform and clean. This is a critical step to prepare the book for the sprayed edges.

Edge Coloring Preparation: Before applying the sprayed edges, the edges of the book block are prepared. The pages may be sanded or smoothed to ensure a consistent and even surface for the paint or ink to adhere to.

Quality Control: Quality control checks are crucial to ensure that the sprayed edges are uniform, vibrant, and free from defects. Any inconsistencies or imperfections are addressed before the book is further processed.

Final Assembly: Once the sprayed edges are dry and quality-checked, the book block is assembled into the hardcover case. This involves attaching the book block to the spine of the cover, adding endpapers, and ensuring that the book is securely bound.

Finishing Touches: The completed hardcover book is given any final embellishments, such as a dust jacket or foil stamping, to enhance its visual appeal and branding.
